my take on drifting in south florida

cfrc is the biggest joke ever, they were tray sliding an eclipse yesterday
it seems like dude started making money off of it and stopped giving a shit

yesterday there wasnt a lot of people there only like 3-4 drifters.. thats why they probably did that.

part of the reason attendance is lower is because there are too many events held in the state. back in ocala days, that would be the only event in the state for 3 months, so everyone was REALLY wanting track time. today we are spoiled with once a month, at several venues = 3+ events a month! and they are run with a 'lets just do crazy stuff' style instead of a 'track day' style.

Yes. LOL at people thinking drifting maxed out in '04-05.

I really think it is hard to argue that it is not on a decline.

I mean, just look at participation numbers in events.

Attendence #'s for spectators at D1, FD, etc.

Forum memberships/user base.

That being said, I do not know if it has "maxed out". I don't think, or have ever thought, it is just a fad. To deny that it is at least 'not booming' any longer I think is hard to do.

I also believe one oft he reasons is there are too many tiny go mess around at events, and not as many epic events.

However, the little events are fine too, we need it to help people get seat time. I remember a time when OSW sold out.

IT has reached it's peak for NOW. Maybe not forever, but at least for now. I think the economy does nto good for it too. In 2004, we were still kind of riding high.

I dont know what you guys are talking about because in 2004-05 there were not this many active members on any drifting forum, not as many entries at events, or spectators. (the only thing i will AGREE to is that there were more "good" drifters back in the day)

What you are getting everything confused with is rules and requirements and pricing that is killing drifting.

Back in 04-05 the rules at most track events were have all your lug nuts and helmet.

Now with all the events you need fire suits, up to date seatbelt harness, 30point roll cages, etc. etc.

the majority of people who go to events can barely afford to keep all their lugnuts and wheels studs on in the first place, now you expect them to have all this safety equipment??

in my opinion about spectators not showing up, shit look at the price of entrance to go watch a bunch of amatuers spinning out.. I wouldnt pay that much for that crap lol.

so you gotta take all those things into consideration if you want to have a good turnout

when I was in California, Adam's Kart Track was PACKED. over 200 spectators easily, around 35-40 drivers, DJ's, food, etc. etc. there was no 10$ spectating fee, no 100$ entrance fee. it was CHEAP!.

what I'm trying to say is, make shit cheaper, more people will go. more people going= more sponsor advertisement= more sponsors

you can argue it all you want but you know that is the truth and i am right so kick rocks.

and dont bring OGP into the question because I can pretty sure guarantee that if they had another event at the kart track it would fill the list quick as fuhhhhhh

Very true.

osw screwed themselves with lame meetings, lamer rules, and really started to fail at track maintenance.

what dan said was so true I actually printed it out, poked a hole in the paper, and had hot'n'sweaty relations with it. wedding invitations will go out later to a selected few.

mierda..... it wont die. trends change. there will ALWAYS be the few that live this shit to the fullest. Those are the ones. who keep it going. I personally am not an everyday drifter. i have a passion for motorsports, be it drag racing drifting w/e i like it. As long as people make that their priority when going to events meets and what not then it will never die.

^ x2 I'll be here for the long run.....for as long as I have the ablitity to drive I'll drift....perfect example with the safety shit I have 2 kids and iam 20 years old( i know iam a dumbass but they are the best thing ever) along with all the bills I pay and my kids. I still manage to have the time and money to support my drifting needs. I have 3 s13s, one my daily that I currently slide and 2 track cars, idc what people say about the prices being to much if I can manage to do it I think alot of others can....honestly up in west palm drifting has grown alot back 2-3 years ago there was only 6 drifters I really knew me...Adam(dr dooms)...Jimmy(jimmybahh)....and sam(93drifter)...Sean love....and will(rythemdrifting) Adam got me into drifting when I bought my first s13 from him...now look at west palm there is atleast over a dozen people now. I think the sport will contiune to grow and get better in the future. Like i said before my life and time is dedicated to my car and drifting ( but my kids come first lol) as long as iam here iam going to drift

^ i like this comment makes me a total nube feel like i can try it and accomplish something i am really hoping to get my 240 soon (i pray)

I have a bit of an idea A bring a friend day. I mean most of us work right im sure there are ppl at your job or even school who dont even what a race track looks like let alone drifting but if you tell them hey come out to and event i'll pay for your fee for the ride along that just mite make them come out there (this is after you give them some knowledge on the sport)

i kinda got the idea after get a free ticket for a movie me personally im not really a movie person and i got a free ticket to see any movie wouldn't you jump at the chance its something you don't do often and its no cost for you to go then you sit down and you start to watch the previews and your like i wouldn't mind payin to see that movie or the next 1..

BTW HOT TUB TIME MACHINE was the shit go and see that dam movie NOW torrent if you have to idc just watch it

And there is the good ol word of mouth that can do wonders if done correctly lol

im still hoping for the best and im going to be at my 1st county line event April lol gunna take the day off for it :0

Everyone has to start somewhere....no one on here was born with the knowledge and skill to drift...shit 11 240s later and iam still not that great but idc cuz I love to just go out and mess around and have a good time with my friends. Shit takes time and practice....perfect example last skidpad I went to some guy showed up in a z28 camaro and never once attempted to drift but actually came out and slide...and started to get the hang of it after alittle. We need more people like him to come out and support what we are doing. It's not about coming out to a event to try to show off. It's all about having fun that's what life is about.
