One more BMW in the NOPI Drift series!!

Sean Love

.
Went to Georgia this weekend with Rob Deurscheidt for the NOPI qualifier in Cordele, and I came out number 1 in qualifying, taking the only NOPI license that they handed out.

First thing I want to mention is that if Rob didnt spin his quali runs, I am pretty sure I would have been second place, because he was nailing it hardcore a ALL DAY.

It still seems a little surreal because I wasnt expecting to get the license at this event. The car didnt even run until about 2pm saturday just before loading up, and I had never drifted the car with the new steering mods, turbo, tilton twin-plate, big wheels and tires.....

My biggest thank you goes out to Active Autowerke, without whom there is no way I could have pulled this off. Karl himself stayed late on Friday just to take care of my ECU tuning and gave me the power to do it right!

Also huge thanks to Shane (FlyinFINN) for helping me put the car together Friday night and Saturday, and also for being a huge help at the track!

Keep an eye out for the Red&Silver E36 at NOPI events this year, I plan to represent SFL and BMW drifting to the MAX!!!

Man Those late night runs were money, I wish I had video of those runs!!!

congrats man!!!

cant wait to see all you nopi guys on tv! thats going to be really cool!

Aww I'm sorry Tim. :)

Actually while the track was kinda easy, I looked at videos today and I was probably the most consistent driver. Took out 2 cones the whole day, both with the rear bumper. Had 1spin, and 1 half spin, had earliest initiation, plus the most slide angle, and was very close on the clipping points. Either way, I know if you were there you woulda got the license too.

Anthony: Not sure on the cars power, it hasn't been to the dyno yet. I got a last minute ECU that was tuned for a SC M3 with matching injectors and I didnt even have time to hook up a boost gauge or air/fuel, so I was totally blind on what the motor was doing, just crossing my fingers that it held together for the quali runs. Turned out, I ended up breaking a halfshaft during the tandem competition, which is kinda odd. I think the wastegate spring is 8lb, and it's hooked to the intake pipe, so math says I should have about 250hp at the rear wheels, all I know is it feels like more power than an E36 M3. 2nd gear tire roasting from 2500rpm no clutch kick.

Thank you everyone for the congratulations. Still hasnt fully hit me that I can just go to a NOPI event now and drive against all those guys, feels kinda weird...

Congrats and nice car man. What turbo kit are you running? I figure its a custom kit. Intercooled? Still running a stock M50B25tu?
