Problems Drifting to the left.

I dont have the slightest clue whats wrong....I used to be able to drift to the left really well, and had problems drifting to the right. Now I drift to the right fine....and have problems drifting to the left and it sucks because every "Good" corner that I know of is to the left.....and also the OSW drift events also.

BTW: its a 89 S13 Coupe.

can anyone help?

My only suggestion is practice... Practice makes perfect. I don't know what kind of suspension setup you're using or whether you have an LSD or not, but investing in those things will make the drift smoother and easier to feel.

I have LSD, and springs and shocks....Its not a matter of practice....I Know how to drift...I was drifting fine before to the left....now it doesnt even slide out....just catches traction and turns....

I dunno? maybe something to do with suspention? any ideas?

did you change anything suspension wise? without any info like that theres not much advice one can give except practice

What kind of LSD? Sometimes Viscous units crap out and will only lock in one direction.

I agree with Ayes, there is not enough information to carefully figure out what could this possibly be.

Although Kenrik suggested tires, I highly doubt that could be the issue. You should check your car's suspension components. Look for any bad tie rods, bushings, shocks... anything that could go bad. How long have you had your shocks? Did you purchase them new? Drifting (especially street drifting) takes a huge toll on shocks. Have you ever had an alignment done?

I mean there are countless possibilities given a vague symptom like that. Your best bet is to jack up the entire car and look at every suspension component in all four corners to figure it out.

its a nissan, they are jdm so they can only drift to the right

and besides your fatass is probably weighing down the left side :p

is the brake failing, ????my caliper froze once, changed it, ebrake worked again for that side

i think u should check the psi on ur tires cuz that happened to me once i had very low psi on one of my rear tires n my just didint drift at all

do your front wheels have traction or are you understeering? if your front end is sliding than i agree with green machine for an easy solution... if your front wheels have traction, then check everything over that was mentioned and if you dont find anything...than i agree with green machine again. lol.

I KNOW WHAT"S WRONG

ARE YOU DRIFTING ON AN OVAL TOO MUCH............you need to send your car back to japan and have the left drift fluid refilled. ovals will prematurely wear away your chassis's preloaded drifts that are factory installed in japan..

me sure that your tc rod bushings are still there, if they are somewhat in tact. If not it will throw off your caster and toe and some other stuff that you dont need to think about.

check tire psi

check shock adjustment.

check to see if your brake pads are equally wearing.

hit any pot holes lately or curbs where it could throw your alignment off in the front or rear ?

practise.

any traditional right hand turn here is genrally slower then a left hand turn on the street........ if you are accustom to "drifting" right handers its possible that you got comforatable with a slower entry. Not going fast enough upon initiation will cause you to catch grip middrift. The countersteer charictoristics are different on shorter and wider turns too, if you are used to the shorter right hander just try try again to refigure out what you are doing wrong lefty.

Stop dissing ovals.. it's all we have for now and seat time is seat time... You're not going to practice any high speed drifts on a cart track that's for sure... (yes it does rock for technical) The best place to have an event is a parking lot because you can get the best of both worlds... but right now we don't have any events like that, so just take what you can get..

are you kidding about the high speed thing on a cart track?? i really hope you are. it's easy doing ovals at an average speed thru a long turn. try initiating at 70mph on a 2lane cart track or the street and slowing down for a 45 degree turn. higher speed drifts are easy as hell when it's just one long *** turn all you have to do is hold the gas down and steer, it's not hard and doesn't really take any practice to achieve

yeh seriously kenrik, i was up to about 73 mph once or twice on the back strait before i did some weird ebrake slide **** wayyyy earily and still kept my line.....(a little outside of hte pavement but always had 3 wheels on the track, if i went slightly conservative at 65 i can make it look perfect).......... ya i need to figure out how to get my damn tapes on the comptuer for you people.

practice people, check tire pressures.

but i think a welded diff will solve alot of things.
