Before anything, yes I have searched a bit. (Google & here)
I'm leaking massive amounts of p/s fluid from driver side, out of the boot on the steering rack. It's also making a clacking sound every once in a while. Those are definitely signs of a bad rack & pinion.
My questions are:
I'm better off getting a new, rebuilt steering rack from an auto parts store correct? I'm not about to go through the trouble of swapping it out for another used one and going through the same headache (unless I'd find someone that has an used one in very good conditions). I called Advance and they have the rack for $308 with a core charge of $60
(they said that's including the inner tie rods and dust boots). I then called Autozone and they charge like $280 w/o tie rods included. These prices seem pretty high but then again, it's the first time I've had to look into this so idk what they go for. Is there any place you guys would recommend that has them at a good price and are reliable? Near KENDALL preferably.
2nd question is, besides the new rack, what else do I have to / should replace? Or should the new rack come with everything I need?
Thanks in advance! Any help will be appreciated.
