Taking the Bad with the Good...

THE GOOD. So I finally got my s13 sr tuned after getting a fuel system upgrade including: walbro 255, new fuel softlines, z32 filter, aeromotive fpr, and Deatschwerks 810cc injectors. I ended up with pretty decent numbers...
Blue=14Psi
Red=18.5Psi

THE BAD. Went to take it out for a spin and before I could even leave the parking lot I popped the 10amp fuse for the fuel pump, so I replaced it with a 15amp(granted prob not he best idea), then I went for a drive came back and saw the fuel pressure had dropped significantly, then looked at the fuse(melted but not popped)

I also noticed at idle the A/Fs on my aem wideband were shifting back and fourth from 15.5-17(and ---)

Does anyone have any idea what this could be/what will fix this? :arms:

Something went wrong when you installed the new pump. Pop it out and check the wiring. Something is grounding out (my guess). Also, you can always rewire you're pump to a switch and use a better gauge wiring since this is a common upgrade from the shitty worn out oem wiring. After re-wiring the pump, many have found significant gains on the dyno because of something so simple, yet over-looked.

Yeah, ground could likely be a problem, and I'm sure 20 year old wire isn't as conductive as it once was. The shop that did the dyno also installed the fuel system, I'm taking it out there next week so ill post when I find out the exact cause. I think you might be spot on though.

are you using a relay for the fuel pump? if not, it would be a good idea.
Yeah, running a relay.

This happened to my 240 right when I brought it home. It was a ground on the pump.

Nice numbers and good luck!

the ground on the sender check that butt connector...
and just rewire the pump it would be better for u..
nice numbers by the way

Lol. After I got back from driving n saw the dropped fuel pressure, I fet like I got kicked in the nuts!

I had my fuel pump fuse blow but in my case, it was the plastic connnection For the main power to the pump. It had broke and was arcing, and ground out the system, I had to brake away the rest of the plastic and cut the rivet and connect the two wire and seal the hole.

We pretty much got the same numbers at 14 pounds i made 304hp and 283tq. but im ka-t. im curious as to what turbo and other things you are running.

I'm running a GT2871r .64Ar, Aem Ems v1, Aem wideband Uego, Megan Racing turbo manifold, elbow, downpipe and test pipe, Blitz Neurspec 3 1/2inch exhaust, Greddy Ls-Spec FMIC, stock intake mani, Spec clutch and flywheel, Isis Radiator and twin E-Fans, Hks actuator and internal wastegate(I know), was able to hit 14psi with the hks actuator spring alone, but at 18.5psi had to let the boost control solenoid do its job to avoid the boost creep.

Stock head and bottom end.

What kind of setup are you currently running?

Dropped the car off at the shop today, explained the issues. My tech said the wiring is definitely causing a serious problem(ya think?!). Most likely he'll end up running new wire directly to my distribution block(power directly from the battery) with an inline fuse and relay. I guess this is called hardwiring it? Its suppose to make sure when your running at higher RPM's and drawing more current, that current can actually get there. I also asked him to look at my idling lean a/fs , he didn't really have an answer as to why this was happening but i guess I'll find out in a few days when he gets to working on it.
I also found out that my brake light switch doesn't work...Glad I had someone following me there.

What shop are you going to?

edit: saw the dyno sheet. Never heard of them.
I had originally intended on taking it to CFT, but just couldn't afford to have it trailored from ft myers to orlando. Fortunately, I was able to find Gulfcoast Motorsports in bonita springs, which is actually a Shelby and Delorian dealer, they also work on and restore Ferrari, Porches and such. However, the reason I decided to go with them is b/c they're tuner Justin Daniels is certified to tune my Aem Ems, and they have an in-ground Dynojet 424xic2. I couldn't find any bad reviews or complaints so I figured id give it a go. Plus I got a full custom tune for $550..

yeah.. GCMW is a local shop here in SWFL... they tuned my buddy Matt's 2j IS300 to 600hp, and he has abused the shit outta it and its still stout as fuhhh.. yuo can see the J-tuneD (justin daniels) sticker on the hood.

last time I was there they had a supra with a single big-turbo that looked promising..and funny enough they have about 12 Delorians parked outside...Looks like if Doc Brown owns the place.hahha
