The TEAM Need for Speed - Drift

Oh I didn't know that. It was tucking rim in the back and had tire gap in the front. It doesn't seem like that would help performance haha. I thought he made top 8, but maybe not? He did real good there last year too.

did you see video from last year?

he made it to top4 off of other people spinning or breaking down if i recall. then he lsot cuz someone didnt spin vs him. his angle was crappy on the bank to straight transition i remember too.

the ride height in from being up helps give some travel ability for the bank to flat jolt. if your slammed itll slam you back wouldnt it?

I just don't understand this thread at all. I mean anyone who follows FD at all knows all of this stuff already and anyone who doesn't obviously doesn't give two shits about it.

His car is high as shit now. My car is lower than his. Its pretty damn setup. He's about as low as you can go and still have an almost perfect setup.

And about Matt at Irwindale last year. He made like 350whp. Do you guys know how hard that bank is with that little amount of power. Sure, just pump up tire pressure. With high tire pressure, do you know how scary it is transitioning back to the inside wall and getting close to it? haha.

I will admit, that I am kinda bummed about Mr. Powers driving. When he was just a bro, shit was nutty. Now his driving got super competitive. But I mean, he drives FD and is trying to beat, and sometimes does beat $100k+ race cars. At that point, impessing sponsors becomes alot more important that impressing fanbois on the drift racing forums.

Pat... man. I hate to say that if you had had more test time with Falkens and known you needed a smaller size it woulda helped your situation. Hell, if I had gone with my car there, I'd have 235 and 245 sets of Nexens. Its all sweet to have the maximum grip when you KNOW its not too much. Having to fight the car in a slide is just ridiculous and I've had to do it myself when somethin isnt working/car is down on power. Its like you have no control over shit. And driving the wet at PBIR didnt give you a great feel for the grip/power ratio- not to mention its not a bank, and sideways speed is slower at PBIR in the turn. I'm pretty sure that if you went back, you'd go with smaller tires (if rest is the same) and have much less trouble.

last year my compaint isnt the bank for matts driving, its the straight (2nd) clipping cone. yea it might be gnarly transition, but his angle was almost non-existent. he got lucky im saying. he didnt 'out drive' someone as much as just didnt spin. i know that means he drove better, but you know what i mean- beating someone with both having clean runs- actually out drifting them.

as far as being competitive and vs 100k$ cars, yea no one is expecting him to smash the competition and its sweet when the underdog comes out. i think the tone here is that he is way hyped for someone who doesnt smash them. JTP is similar status (when he drove his rx7) and he was actually throwing down constantly.

I dont hate on matt, just his overblown hype. If he wasnt so bro-loved, id have no issue.

oh, no, I agree completely. Although, nothing would really get me ready for Irwindale. Doods that drive at Evergreen(FD seatle track) were telling me that irwindale is NOTHING like evergreen.

Knowing what I know now, if I went back with the same power/car I would go on 245/40 rt615k's and dropped 10psi from what I was running. I wouldnt want to go much smaller due to the need of lateral grip for the start/finish clip, and into the inside wall. I was running 50psi driver side and 55psi passenger side. I could have went down, but it just made the bank SOOOO easy for me. I scrapped on the big bank wall twice in saturday practice cause the car was sooo easy to control up on the bank with those pressures. With the amount of on power grip I had on those 615k's, I didnt realize that I didnt have the same off power/not full throttle grip due to the tire being so hard with all that pressure. That tire is absoutley amazing, and I just didnt have time to learn the characteristics of it. I am in NOWAY blaming the tires or not being used to the tires for my lackluster performance out there.

The thing about less power on the bank came straight from Matts mouth after he was eliminated in top 8. He said last year he had to put every bit of concentration on the bank. This year, with 475 whp, he said it was 100 times easier.

All those dudes sold out. SOHC open diff FTW!!! Ztreet drifting!1!11

You read this right?

Oh and yeah just the front is super high. Looked goofy.

Oh werd.

His shit is slammed this year though...its just jacked up front at some tracks. Stupid setup, sorry if it bothers people. I just saw the dyno looking for up to date pics and figured id put it up. Really sick engine setup...3071r is the bees knees of midframe turbos imo so I get excited when i see people running it.

Yeah I guess his car has made over 500whp on higher boost, but kept blowing headgaskets. Definitely pretty serious.

The Team Need for Speed has the best of both worlds. Rotary and Piston , but if you guys compare the FD has alot more potential ($$) than the S14 from M.Powers. i was thinking matt powers car was still using the PBM Suspension set up. Why he change it to another suspension set up wasnt good enough or something ?

anyways, both drivers from need for speed are pretty young, im sure we will see great moves and performance from both drivers. but i still think who is best driver mike or matt , mikes fd too much power and honestly he makes insane smoke :D matt he is pretty good not bad like his moves but if his s14 can have the good power from mikes fd will be awesome.

I wonder if this will help for both drivers they should do " hey me(mike) listen matt p. why dont you do few runs on my FD and see how well you do. and matt should let mike use his s14 and see how well it performs and handles , i dont know but i think this should help them to experience something totally new in handle and performance. and ofc good experience they will gain from their next battle if they matt vs a FD driver will know already how the FD actually performs since he already drove mikes FD, same for mike as well.

bottom line they are good drivers and young wait till they get much older and will gain a ton of experience :D , like me on girls i dont go fuck young chicks no way Jose, im a MILF all the Way yeah MotherILiketoFuck hell yeah30-55 why not anyday anytime.

Mike drives an Rx8 in Formula D.

oh sweet even better hey mike let the beast/matt drive ur beast/rx8 :D

dammm i wanna see matt drive mikes rx8 and see how well he does. may be even better than mike ? hmmm who knows we have to see it :D
