V8 AE86 Drifting

thank you

Um,......... he was kidding. The T50 is a pile of crap, it would never take torque of the UZ motor.

Why do you want to know so bad anyway?? I's not like anyone here knows the guy or what trans he has.

I will tell you this though, there isn't a bolt-on tranny for the UZ motors.

My well informed guess would be R154 though......

however there are 2 companies in Australia selling bellhousings to bolt the R series to a UZ block. Dellow adapters, and Castlemaine Rodshop.

Happy now? :)

Oh and last year I sold my friend in Tampa a 1UZ from SC400 to put in his ハチ ロク coupe.

Ohh tell me more ;) . The drivers name is Josh Young and that setup was still new to him. He had a 7AG turbo that blew and then he decided to do something different for this event. I'm sure in the upcoming months that 86 will be profiled a lot more in depth(online or in mags). It'll be a safe bet he probably used one of those companies you named.

I was talking to Mike Ranlet about 1UZs and manual trannies, he has it worked out. I want to say R154 is what he told me, but you would want to ask him. mranlet on any forum, when you get to the piont that your ready to spend money.

Yeah seems like the toughest part is adapting a 5spd tranny to the 1UZ and seeing how to run the engine(since it comes with a auto ecu) before a standalone is used. Once thats in order, the rest of the "normal custom" parts have to be made(mounts, driveshaft, exhaust, etc). I'm guessing he uses an older Supra rear, I can't imagine the 86 diff can handle the V8 power.

PS Any more info on this swap is welcomed ;) .

i knew that, i want to know for future references in my next project.

that was soo tight... i found this on another forum:
The weight I found for this engine(1UZFE) + an R154 is 486 lbs
Weight + W58 is 466 lbs.

Another website has weight alone as 470 lbs
does anyone know wut an F20C weighs for comparison...
