i agree with you bladder, The whole forbidding us to buy imports was just an example to show how bad things are getting, im not saying its going to get that bad! but things arent going good! I wouldnt want to get tickets because my car is lower because i bought coilovers to make my car handle better, or an exhaust to get a little better hp and torque from the motor! What im saying is that things are getting to the point were every car that has a few mods made to it is going to be targeted for cities to make money and lets face it a majority of enthusiats/ricers/racers/drifters w.e. you want to call it are young people. We do this because we like it and its a culture, but why should the culture suffer because cities want to make a few bucks off us!

Indeed. Or upgraded brakes to help stop your car better to prevent an accident. ;)

But I don't think its just because the cities are trying to make money off of us. For example, part of the reason why Florida is imposing street racing laws is to prevent accidents and deaths. Florida got fed up with all the n00bs street racing and killing people, so they acted upon it.. I can only see profiling getting worse. I'm still fed up with how in one meet, the officer profiled all of us as street racers. Saying, "You guys going to run it afterwards right?" The officer was cool and didn't give us any problems after that. But it's the thought of the officer when he first appeared that bothers me.

Its always going to happen and thanks for the few that have fked it up for us...Im not going to lie and say that I have never street raced in my life, cuz then ill just be full of ****...but as time went on and more and more kids started to get involved I just left all that crap alone...too many stupid people behind the wheels nowadays and its giving us a bad name...ive seen first hand how bad some drivers are and im sure im not the only one...

...there taking some of these cars like the camaro and the new magnums (which I hear will be made into the new police cars) dropping ls1 motors (cmon thats a freaking vette motor) and say that if we modify our cars by putting an intake and a fart cannon that were breaking the laws...makes sense? not to me!!

Ummmmm.... 98+ camaros (z28s & SSs) and 98+ Formulas & Trans-Ams come with ls1 motors stock. They did not drop a different motor in them.

...First off there going to say that there trying to get racing off the street...if they want to get it off the street so bad then how come they dont help the situation by making legal tracks or by donating back streets to it...

Actually California did back in '01/'02. Not sure if they still do it, but they used to have street legal races over in San Diego in a stadium parking lot. The police would basically block off the area, and voila. A quick google search shows they still have something along those same lines... http://www.californiaspeedway.com/track/CaliforniaDragway.jsp

Someone posted something about the economy and how many enthusiast buy from the aftermarket. I remember about a year ago on the show "Car Crazy" on SPEED it said there are about 25 million "car guys" in the United States, if not more. I'm not just saying people who like nice cars, I'm talking about full blown car crazy people, like many of us. I'm sure a good part of that number if not all buy products from the aftermarket.

What the police dont realize is that "car guys" are pumping a lot of money back into the market. If you go back a few years the automotive industry was dominated by SUVs. All the sports cars were killed off, the 2nd gen Mr2, the Supra, the list goes on and on. But just when the "sports car revalution" is coming back (Sti, Evo,350,S2k, etc) and the car companies and aftermarket are building products for us the police goes on a power trip. They dont realize what they are doing. The "car guy" has been around since the Model T was made into the 1st hot rod. Like it or not street racing has been around since the first hot rodders wanted to "test" their cars out. Someone with power and is a "car guy" needs to stand up and make it known that this is not right. We arent crimals, we just want more tracks for what we love to do, which is to drive.

Our passion isnt like basketball, football, soccer were all you need is to buy a ball and go to a park and practice all day long if you want. "Car Guys" have it a lot harder off, we want to drift, grip or drag but have pretty much no where to go. So we have our backs against the wall and go to industrial parks, emty parking lots, etc. Even though we do have some events(Thank God for that) its just not enough to go once a month, when driving hard and gaining skill is all you want to do. Sorry for the long post, this topic really gets me going.

California law does not require police to measure sound levels objectively. Instead, according to the California Highway Patrol, the "citation is based on officer's judgment."

That is the most bull**** thing I ever heard. The DOT has the completely wrong approach into solving these problems. But nowhere is perfect.

I have to agree with you we have nowhere to go and nobody to stand up for us...When you have events once a month its hard because we get itchy and have the urge to do things. Im not blaming tertech or any other organization for this because I know its time consuming and hard to make events. But the cities have so many roads that nobody ever uses. I had a friend who was in a mustang club and they talked to a city and had sanctioned drag races on a back road, yes sanctioned like the city approved it...I dont know how they did it but they did it. But if we were to go to somebody and ask them that now they will be like hell no go screw yourself. I hate how a majority of these lawmakers/cops used to drag race there old american muscle but wont help us!

Dunno what you mean. The FHP Camaros you see on the road are bone stock, regular z28s with 300lbs of added police equipment.

I think what he meant is why would they make a Trans-Am, Z28 & SS when they had a v6 base model to sell. If manufacturers can make different engines for performance models and base models why is it illegal when we want a faster car? And BTW all FHP Camaros are SS( SuperSports) not Z28's.

The Z28 Had 305HP 5.7L 350 C.I.D. LS1, And the SS got a better flowing 320HP-325HP 350 C.I.D. LS1.

bro there is no way that all the FHP camaros are barebone stock! They have mods done to there cars if not then they wouldnt be able to catch the guys in the cobras and supras n such!!! they would be left behind in the dust!

I'd love to hear how you've come to know this. :)

I know this because i am a fan of domestic cars as well and I know the specs to cars that i like. On top of that back when i was in Tampa when I used to go to the races at Bradenton Motorsports Park(way back in 1997-now) we had FHP at the track just to keep us out of trouble and they where cool as ****, they would run the strips with us some times.. I don't know if previous FHP Camaros where available or if I just didn't see them growing up in Tampa and Miami. But I don't just throw **** out of my *** with out thinking it through first and know what I'm talking about. BTW I meant all FHP Camaros on the road now that we see in our region are SS Camaros . Did you know that Police Dept's. are also ordering up Mercury Marauders w/ Cobra drivetrains :) , F150's, Explorers and Nissan Maximas just to name a few?

Oh well.

First, the ls1/ls6 motor is 346 c.i.d. btw.

And here's a sticker off of one of the '02 FHP z28s.

2002_FHP_B4C_Window_sticker.jpg

3rdly, the SS package only contains a different hood, wing, and suspension, of which are put on by an aftermarket company.
