i like everyone else started drifting in parking lots .i like everyone else strated drifting in a 240( i destroyed three 240 before i finally built a good drift car).i met alot of the original sfldrifters at the triangle (i destroyed a car there)i felt like the fire hydrent needed a little bit of angle.the first event i was ever invited to was a warehouse in lauderdale ( i blew a head gasket there) my first real grass roots event was ter-tech at wpb county fairgrounds ( i destroyed a motor and a clutch there)
it was different then everybody knew everybody.everybody shook everybodys hands ,evrybody was dirty and smelt like cars(that hasnt changed to much) it was fun, it was underground!
then along came tim with a vision .to organize south florida underground street drifting into a grassroots movement( he didnt even have an fr car at the time) then come countyline.
i missed the first few events (i sold my 240 and built the z) my z was never for 1 day ment to be a daily driver it was my toy my track toy .i finally make it to the third drift sessions everybody was cool everybody shook everybodys hand.
i was hooked it took six runs before i finally nailed 1st left but i was hooked.so i bought a truck and a trailer and tires lots of tires! drift sessions was once a month i found myself doing hit and runs at my secret pots all weekend long.(damn topgear is on i should really finish this later)
but ill forget
so then the big events start popping up and places start getting packed hours early with beat up junk rat rod 240s hundreds of em like roaches(some even resembled roaches) events are full of emo kids(no offence emo kids i love hawethorne frieghts and panic with the homo) things were changing and quick everybody is a drifter especially if you had an integra. (damn i just got distracted by eric bana in a resonably priced car)147.5 around the top gear test track not bad in the rain,,
anyway in the begining we all complained about no where to drift.then guys like tim ,bladder, harri and whoever else stick there ass in the air and get us drift events almost weekley at the very least bi weekley... now no body shows to events and everybodys complaining about how expensive it is. so we are losing our drift events... the price of drifiting hasnt changed we started drifting more frequently .if you cant afford to drift dont atleast spectate because guess what spectating is half the sport. there would be no formula d without spectators .
i think what the south florida scene needs it to take a step back and reflect
stop hating one another ( its a really big thing in south florida)and help one another you all drive 240s if you have a part share a part good example(i gave kp drilled and slotted rotors and pfc pads free when i upgraded to bbk)
yes free cost sharing goes along way! mostly clear your head of all the bullshit we are all on this forum and at events for 1 reason we love drifting
