help choosing. SR/KA

SR at stock boost all day man, I have mines at stock boost and i have lots of fun with it... I am able to spin 225's in the back and tandem with guys making a lot more HP than me. I drifted a KA24de for over 4 years, it was lots of fun... Now i have the SR and i am having the same amount of fun.... cause suspension OWNS... lmao... get the SR leave it at stock boost, it will be reliable... as soon as you get power hungry the drama will start... my sr swap went like this:

SR= $2000
FMIC = cxracing $200
radiator = cxracing $120
fuel pump = $100
wiring = free
300zx fuel filter = $10

for $2430.00 i finish my SR swap... look at around 2500-3000 to finish yours.... i have donw 4 drift events with the SR, no over heating and no problems... its at 7psi.. plus the guy that said SR 220hp at 7psi ... is more like 180hp...lmao

u didnt replace any gaskets or seals before u dropped the motor?? im doing my swap now and i was told with that stuff its better to do it and be safe than sorry later

I replaced a couple of gaskets here and there... but nothing to go crazy about... only serious thing should be the water pump and thermostat, the rest of the gaskets are simple like turbo manifold etc.....

im keeping my eye on this thread cause im thinking about the same shit lol

i have an idea for you mark
youd rather KA-T, but you want the SR because its simple, enough power, and is reliable to drift and keep it as a daily, right?

id say get the SR, but dont get rid of the KA once you swap it
You have the SR to get you through school and hit up a couple events here and there, and you still have a reliable car that gets you where you need to go without crappping out on you

Meanwhile, while all thats happening, you can completley rebuild your old KA on the side, forged pistons, new piston rods, build it to handle boost, and when your done with college, or maybe even just a year or two from now, you can throw it in, and it will be able to handle whatever you throw at it, and it will be a BEAST, then you can sell the SR, or maybe even buy a cheap pignose with a blown KA ,swap that SR in and sell the whole car and make some profit at the end, and boost the fuck out of the KA

thats actually what im thinking about doing since im in the same situation as you, it all depends on how good this new KA treats me, and if it can handle some basic n/a mods to hold me off for a while. if it cant handle it, its SR time for me

well as of today my clutch started to slip, my car is running like shit and its missing like a monster on crack. hopefully i can get it running ok and the clutch wont give out yet. but it looks like im going sr.

even tho i dont drift or anything, and have no experience to talk yet, since i know u, i will say this, ur being a retard, lol...

just rebuild ur KA and boost it, for just about the hassel of gettin an SR and dropping it will cost. plus, its better. lol

ka-t as a daily....

think about that one.

I love KA-t's. They make soooo much goddamn power...but who knows for how long. Tom has an 18g on his ka with a cometic, ARP headstuds, XSpower manifold, 3 inch exhuast and a front mount. I have a nasty head, top mount manifold with a 3 inch inlet 2871, tial 38mm wastegate, greddy intake manifold, pretty much a nasty SR. Boost for boost, and he would fucking SHIT all over my car. my car on 22psi and his car on 14, he would still pull me.
If anyone saw him at Countyline, he was on 245/45/18's with 30psi in em and was on 10 psi...maybe. no traction at allllllll. He'll ride on 245/40/17's with awesome tread, and wont get traction till fourth....after he pedals the shit out of it. He also has a damn near crushed closed midpipe.

Nasty torque machine track car, KA-t. Sweet daily driver that will last forever and a day, SR.

that my basic plan im keeping my ka and rebuilding another since there so cheap. i plan on boreing this one .20 over and stroking it on top of the to4 i have. im taking my time but i plan to do it right full rebuild. the only thing i havent got completely figured out is where to get a rom tune. all the parts im buying as the money comes.

thank you for that.
i really dont want to get into fabbing shit and etc.
i need a reliable motor that will get me to college and back everyday and to work and the occasional countyline events. maybe after college i can retire it from a daily(because ill be making more money, i hope) and i can get into a motor build. as of now it is my only transportation and it needs to be as reliable as it can. and this ka is shitting on me and i dont feel like rebuilding it. the sr swap is too simple.

like you said the sr is simple not to mention bolt on aftermarkets everywhere. i'ts cool to be running a KA-T but if your not runing a shop you dont have time for that. i was in your exact shoes, SR swap and never looked back

im in the process of building a all motor KA but its not going in until i get a daily cause i dont really know how reliable its gonna be. Even though i didnt pay full price or een close to it for the parts ive put in already i still would have gone with a sr if i had the dough. Estie beat on his stock sr at 10 lbs for 3 years and it finally blew after who knows how many events.

what I would do is rebuild the ka with performance parts. I just came back from the races and there is a guy that's friend with my frind and he has a ka with big turbo and no 1 has beatn him. imma rebuild mine in bout 2 month and go big turbo. imma try to go t80
