Ka Question

well if purchasing sketchy engines and swapping them in every once in a while sounds appealing to you then turbo charging a ka is worth the money.

this meaning you will be having to buy used motors all the time to feed your turbo ka that you want so bad. just do it right and build one. i would buy another motor and build that one up while you are driving on NA car. learn to drift on NA and get the suspesion done, its amazing how much quicker the car will feel with good suspension.

yes buying engines that someone took out of their car for an engine swap. Or just pulled out of their car. Ive tried to buy 2 engines from people and they did not pass a leak down test. No engine I have put in my car that I bought second hand lasted more then 600 miles turbocharged. My original engine kicked the can after 22,000 miles, so yes im going to call every ka engine sketchy unless I knew it was running in a car that I knew of for at least 2 months of drifting with out a problem.

beat ass engines + turbo = a combination in which even apex seals are superior.

just to let you know I can buy 18 used ka engines with the money I have in my "do it right the first time engine". Go frugal with your build and you could get away with the cost of 10 engines or so.

a better solution, sr20, or if you are creative, put a v-8 in.

okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay so im kinda rethinking about boostin my KA :ugh:

well dont let me scare you off, ya know, we could have a competition. Who is able to break all 4 pistons with in 5 runs at moroso........

pretty cool huh? at least it dose not throw rods through the block, I was able to drive it home with massive amounts of oil fumes passing through the firewall.

good and you should be. but if you want to boost the ka listen to rick, you will have to build it end of story.

ive given it a thought...and i guess ill just have to save up for the swap....sr20det blacktop...soooo anyone kno the price range and.....WHERE CAN I GET A JOB THAT PAYS 8 DOLLARS OR MORE AN HOUR????? :bigthumbu

i personaly think that it would be more fun to build the KA but hey what do i know. i just sell real estate.

well you SELL REAL ESTATE....im guessin YOU GOT MONEY!! lol...ima cheap low ballin 17 year old man lol...i need a 8 dollar an hour job or more....ANY ONE KNOW OF ANY? I WOULD REALLY APRECIATE IT

it would cost the same amount about but you could do it in smaller incrments buying shit here and there. thats what i have done with my build.

Okay, so you're interested in Boostin your KA.

Do not listen to anyone who does not know what they are talking about, research and find out for yourself. First rule in boosting the KA, make only educated decisions.

A stock-block KA-T can hold boost beautifully, as long as you pay attention to the important parts. Your setup list should go something like this...

you can get alot of your parts second hand, for quite cheap.

Get ahold of some SR injectors, a z32 MAF, and a walbro 255 fuel pump.

For management you can pick up a tuned ECU for a few hundred dollars. Or if you wanna get badass, grab the AEM EMS. Expensive, but trust me, totally worth it.

Theres a very valid reason why I continued to put used engines in my car. I wanted to see what I do and how long it would take before it failed. I am an amateur tuner I was able to get a good feel of what I can get away with and now I have alot more confidence in what I can do for tuning my engine.

but yet it involves budget!! lol seriously any one who can get me a job in the dade area i would be grateful...8 bucks and up..im 17..let me kno..but yeah im still undecided...SR OR KA-T????

Sir, i don't mean to insult you or to attack you when I ask if you have turbocharged multiple cars and drove them on a road course or at a drift event where you held the engine wide open for at least a minute. Drag racing sure is wide open throttle maximum power but its only exposure to that power for 13, 12, 11 or 10 seconds. It is demanding on stock ka pistons making over 275whp for extended periods of time. There are so many details and things that happen to the air and fuel while engine temperatures escalate that its hard to completely eliminate knock when the engine is raced.

So unless your going to rebuild the engine, which anyone who asks for this kind of advise will not be doing. It is risky to turbo a ka especially when using it for drifting.

I would only encourage slapping on a turbo if you are going to replace the pistons.

i drove a ka-t which was a basic 1000$ build stock t25 7pnds and TRUST ME if you like to drift its more than enough but if your into drag...this setups only getting you like a 14 sec run

My user name obviously tells you which of the 2 motor's I favor. Honestly, If you don't have a clue nor any hands on experience I strongly suggest going with an SR.

Im not an SR fan at all. I have been in the game for a long time and have boosted Ka's and associate myself with people who own boosted Ka's. One of my closest friends has had his on boost for about a year now. The car feels great and the motor is stronger then ever. Mind you, he turbo'd his current motor with 200,xxx miles on it.

Its not a walk in the park at all. He first built his setup for under $2k. As soon as he got an AFC he dyno'd 250 rwhp at 9 lbs. Thats less money then an SR swap and alot more power then a stock SR.

Btw, for those non believers...

T3 - junkyard - 100
Walbro 255 - 100
Ebay Intercooler plus piping - 300
Sr 370cc - 120
Manifold - 300
Bov - 200
Afc - 200
Hoses - Fittings - Clamps - Miscellaneous Parts - 200

Probably missing a few items but you get the idea. Im sleepy... :boring:

^^ $1500 = 250 rwhp on a Motor with 200k miles. If he bought Pistons he would still be under 2k. Now ofcourse, all the work was done by us. As time has gone by hes bought Flexalite fans, Koyo radiator, an Fpr....etc.

In other words... If you are hands on and would like to build your motor yourself go KA. If not, have a shop put an SR in your car.

No offense to Sr guys, but I see alot of kids that don't know shyt about there motor and have probably dropped a few grand into them. Thats kinda sad... :ugh:
