my take on drifting in south florida

central florida died because there is no events... CFRC has been doing the damn friday night thing so no one from out of town even has a chance really. AND the time I did make the trip on a friday, they cancelled because there was a 'light glaze' of rain on the surface- which I had ALREADY called and checked to make sure drifting would still go on. I ALSO had a group of friends make the trip out to just watch. All of us wasted our money and STILL came back the following night for the 'makeup' event and there was like 6 people there drifting anyways.

i wanted to attend this coming weekend but my car is taking longer than I'd hoped. I actually have all the parts, just had to go with swapping into a new shell so it delayed me another 2 weeks ; ;
 
damn i remember when the forum first started and we didnt have any events we used to meet up at the mall or dunking donuts every friday and saturday night and just go drifting all night, (we didn't really have any lives it was just drifting.)
now a days they have events all the time and ppl dont show up, i hear the same excuses all the time: they wanna get coilovers first, or they wanna weld the diff or they want a 400hp sr and a body kit to look cool.

most of the people that are good now are the ones that didn't have an excuses back then and where always sliding as much as possible.
i could have been able to keep up with all the bad ass asses but i stopped sliding for a while since i crashed the last s14 and ended up getting married so i had to save some money.
 
if i could sig the op i would but that would be a biiiggg sig... i havent gone to the track in a long time..i wanted to go to the last event but couldn't cuz of work :/ but i would of towed my car and burn some tires ... people need to stop taking all the flaming on this forum to the titty its only fun and games .. everyone does it and if u go to the track meet everyone you will see its the same and your learn to like it and start doing some yourself... :bigthumbu

think of how empty this forum would be without the flaming....shit talking is part of all the fun.

now on the other hand box its really disconcerting for some people to have someone like GSRACER go about flying around KILLING IT AS USUAL and then when they go in their stock ka lowering springs and diff only to hear, "WOW GET OUTA HEAR U SUCK"...personally it only fuels me but to some can be a shutdown in major ways. i would venture to say that 85% of the shit talking stays here but that other 15% makes its way out to the track, and u see alot of spectators "not driving ever" talking shit.

its human nature to hate on personalities such as nascar drivers but at a skidpad talking shit is the most harmful thing, in my opinion, that you can do especially when young people some only 15-16 are out trying to learn the potential of their cars...

thought i would throw it out there, try and refrain from street sliding, only bad things will come of it!
 
yea im not saying shit talking is ok, im just saying you have to tune it out and not let it affect you personally. its always goign to be there so just get over it and concentrate on what you came to learn or do.
 
Hi my name is Damian .... and i used to streetslide... now i cant drive no tag no insurance... and lots of money down the drain that could of been used in a swap, coilovers, paint/body.. well you get the pic..its fun only until you get caught...thats my input .. i like the track for the simple fact that i could get loose and give it my 100% and not worry about hitting something/someone or cops.. I live my life 1 turn at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullshit. For those few seconds or less, I'm free.

talking shit by random spectators shouldnt really be an issue because no matter how good you are, people will hate anyways- look at top drifters, top nascar, top ANYSPORT, people hate because its easy.

if a driver is a hater well they obviously have issues since NO ONE just fell into a car and starting sliding at 100mph. i dont care who it is, they all started small too.

dont focus on these guys, and if you are one, stop being a doucher. if everyone worried about their own personal contributions instead of what they can complain about, there wouldn't be anything to complain about lol.

I don't really have time to read any of these crazy threads lately, but... If people wanna drive, cool. If people don't wanna drive, whatever. If people wanna spectate, sweet. If people don't wanna spectate, whatever. If people want to use a drifting forum solely for socializing, ...you need to get a life, but that's beside the point.

People that drive need to realize that some people don't give a shit about driving. People do what they wanna do. People that drive will drive regardless. There will be track time regardless. It seems like a whatever issue, and people are making a big deal about it for some reason. Go work on your cars or something.

on a real note, the "Veterans" is a poorly used word, some guys here might veterans to the sport but also a complete waste and they are the people that can drift a few corners and had the same skill level for the last 4 years... the ones that say the love the sport and dont come to events and all they do is talk smack.

the real Veterans are the good drivers that go to pro and local events, the one that wen they show up they help out, the ones that give advice... I work at a shop and I've had people come and tell me "oh yea the guys at Aero K helped me out" or "oh yea Estie did that for me" or "Yea Jackson helped me with that"... and thats just in the Broward area, I know tons of driver in all Florida that do the same and I know 1st hand that these guys do it for the love of the sport as much as I do.

the last few event I attended at countyline were pretty packed... and wen we had the mini comp we told all the drivers "if you make top 8 you will have to tandem" and every1 said SURE! and needles to say we had a great event and some awesome talent.

so that tells me that people can drift, go to events and even step it up wen put on the spot... I just dont know why they dont.

I will tell you one thing, I dont know why we have no real media at the Homestead events or other small events aside from the girlfriend of one of the drivers.

I'l be honest and this is coming from a pro driver perspective, if I'm going to spend all my time, efforts and $$$ going to a free event that has no pay outs then I at least want to have some sort of exposure that I can show my sponsors that will not only show that I'm in the game and doing good, but that I'm doing my best to push the product.
I know it cost a butt load of $$$ to have great media tools to shoot an event, but it also cost a butt load of $$$ to keep a drift car media friendly and a sharp driver.

dont take this as an attack on media, more as a invitation to come to events and have a good time bragging about the awesome shot u took of a driver that can benefit from you photography or Video skills... cause I know that we have great talented Media people here, if the organizers work together with media, I'm sure we all can be happy.

Edrifting needs to stop, BSing on a forum is w/e but wen silly shit moves to the track is wen the F**K YOU! carp starts... I NOTICE TOO MANY OK DRIVERS ACTING LIKE THEY ARE THE SHIT INSTEAD OF BEING THE SHIT!

Let me say this.
I love Florida.
I rep Florida at every event I got to with hats and shirts.
With that said.
Florida events don't bring it as hard as out of state events.
It's lack of organization, lack of professionalism.
Great that not everyone wants to be pro, but the event needs to be run in a professional manner.
Remember how much I love Florida and most of the people here....
Alot of people here are idiots. Whn I go out of state, I never once have seen people act the way they do down here.

**obviously I'm a nobody on here but do go to some events as a participant and spectator**

i've tried to get some friends hyped about drifting (they talk about it 24/7 as it is) and get them on point and they say -"well you live with your parents." So to you I say GTFO and get another job. Dont talk about it, bull shit about it, etc 24/7 if you're not gonna be about it and use some lame ass excuse about the price. I wonder if these people are on Ferarri forums talking about their wet dreams of the cars and complaining about the price.

I didn't drift for 3 years. got married, had a kid, got a place, sold my ka-t for pennies, and i didn't come on here bullshitting about how I drift until I came back in the game.
